A Huge Success!
On January 25th, WPC hosted our annual Boathouse Dinner & Silent Auction at the McAllister Boathouse. We enjoyed dinner, cocktails, live music, and a whole lot more!
It was a treat to have some of the seniors from the teams speak to us about how they have benefited from this program, and what they will be up to in the coming years. With a special guest appearance from alumni Tiffany Howell, we celebrated the incredible contributions over the last 27 years of Winter Park Crew’s secret weapon: Jeff Richmond.
With over 100 guests and 56 auction items, we raised more money than in any recent year at this event. It was a great way to kickoff a new racing season!

Winter Park Crew has become an important player at the national level, and we even have international recognition. We also started a trend to be proud of. One of our parents designed and built - in has back yard - our treasured boat trailer. Crews all around copied the design, and it became the gold standard across the country.
Our success - and the opportunity we create for these athletes - is only possible because of contributions from parents, alumni, and friends of the program. In addition to donations and fundraising, that comes in the form of services and volunteering… some blood, sweat, and tears.
Tonight, we celebrate a parent that has impacted us in a profound way for years.
He’s done a number of construction projects on this property, he repaired the boat dock, he built our bathrooms, and he’s repaired racing shells dozens of times - including at regattas in time for crews to race in them.
He also built that trend-setting boat trailer mentioned before. He learned how to weld for that project, and he read the entire Florida Department of Transportation manual. He also drives that trailer to regattas every year - some of those are 1,000 miles away.
He’s been doing all of that and much more for 27 years - and he hasn’t had a kid on the team since 2002. If you don’t know already, we are talking about:
